Sky Is Wide is a creative studio founded by Sandra and John Barker.
Together, they bring complementary perspectives shaped by design, photography, and more than two decades of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
Sandra leads strategy, brand systems, and proposal development—translating complex ideas into clear narratives and structured visual frameworks.
John focuses on photography and visual storytelling—capturing the atmosphere of landscape, architecture, and the spaces between them.
Their work sits at the intersection of strategy and visual craft, helping design-driven firms communicate their ideas with clarity, depth, and intention.

Sandra Barker
Sandra Barker has spent more than twenty years shaping how design firms communicate their work. Her career began in hospitality, where she learned that meaningful experiences are built through careful attention to every touchpoint.
After graduating magna cum laude from The University of Texas at Arlington, Sandra entered the AEC industry, where she has led brand development, pursuit strategy, and marketing systems for landscape architecture and design practices.
Her work balances operational clarity with creative discipline—structuring marketing ecosystems that allow firms to communicate with consistency and confidence.
Sandra approaches marketing as a form of design: thoughtful, structured, and attentive to craft.
Brand Strategy & Marketing
John Barker is a photographer and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between landscape, architecture, and atmosphere.
His creative foundation developed at the University of Texas at Austin, where he served as Music Director and Art Director for KVRX 91.7 FM—shaping the station’s visual identity and programming for a broad regional audience.
Working across photography, video, and installation-based media, John has created immersive visual environments for cultural events throughout Texas. These experiences continue to inform his approach to architectural photography today.
At Sky Is Wide, he documents the built environment with a sensitivity to light, scale, and spatial rhythm—creating images that honor design while inviting connection.

Studio Origins
Sky Is Wide began as a journey.
From the skylines of Dallas, we crossed deserts, climbed mountains, and followed the road until it met the Pacific.
What started as travel therapy—space to think, to reset, to stay golden—became something else along the way.
Somewhere between the unknown miles and the open horizon, the idea for Sky Is Wide took shape.
A studio built on curiosity, optimism, and the belief that the best work begins with perspective.
Sky Is Wide was born in 2017.
